Audiences are quickly energized by Brian James Olds, a native son of Baltimore, Maryland. Brian timidly began his journey into the world of speaking in 2006, delivering his very first speech in the Morgan State University Toastmasters Club. He pushed himself through his sweaty palms, shaking voice to find a standing ovation waiting for him at the conclusion of the speech.
Fast forward to today; Brian is a sought-after interactive speaker, trainer, entertaining emcee and speaker consultant, having delivered hundreds of presentations to audiences of all sizes. No matter the size or venue, Brian has built a reputation as a dynamic and informative speaker who fully engages any audience with his intriguing stories and insights. In 2015, Brian earned the opportunity to advance to the semi-finals of the Toastmasters International Speech Contest, competing against the top 100 speakers around the world. Each year, nearly 30,000 people compete for the coveted title of World Champion of Public Speaking.
Brian holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Morgan State University and a Masters Certificate in Instructional Design and Adult Learning from University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Brian has also built an impressive career at Aerotek, a leading provider of staffing and recruiting services. He is currently Program Manager in Aerotek’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion where he focuses on building leadership capacity, attracting and retaining a diverse workforce and addressing the modern workplace challenges that organizations are facing.
Growing up in Baltimore city and raised by a single mother, Brian recognizes the need for Black men to be involved in the lives of young people. Brian is a member and currently serves as College Development Chair for BPM – Black Professional Men, Inc. a Baltimore-based non-profit focused on advancing the social, political and economic awareness needs of African American Men through community engagement, youth mentoring and civic engagement.
In 2016, his passion for speaking, diversity and building relationship led him to create Black Speakers Network (BSN). The mission of Black Speakers Network is to equip, inspire and connect the next generation of Black Professional Speakers. Through, BSN Brian works with thousands of new and emerging speakers around the world who seek to start or grow their professional speaking business.
Brian’s unique blend of corporate, academic and non-profit leadership experience make him an increasingly sought after resource for entrepreneurs. In each program and interaction, Brian leverages over a decade of business experience to assist entrepreneurs to grow their business by unlocking the power of relationships.
