Turning from Being a Loan Officer to Finding Her Way to Becoming an Event Planner
Affectionately known as Mo… I am the Owner and Creative Director of Monique Hogan Weddings and Events (the name says it all); Chief Fun Officer (CFO) at Star Party – creative children’s parties where your child is always the star and Event Manager for Hogan Events – corporate meetings and events company.
Guess by now you know I’m an Event Specialist. I wear many hats because I’m different things to different people, I’m cool with that.
My journey began when I was eleven years old. I planned the spectacular double wedding of my Barbie and Ken and my sister’s Christie (Barbie) and G.I. Joe. Barbie and Christie wore white gowns made of lace fabric (no sewing required I just wrapped the lace around them and secured it with ribbon); Ken wore a leisure suit and Joe wore his Army fatigues. After that grand success I started planning parties and weddings for all of my dolls.
Years later when I got a “real” job in the banking industry I was called upon to plan holiday parties, team building outings, executive meetings, and company picnics. I soon began to plan parties for coworkers and friends and started a little “side hustle” where I’d plan parties and other special occasions. In 2002 I stepped out on faith left the bank and started an event production company and I haven’t looked back since.
My laid back and sometimes humorous personality has proven to be my greatest asset; it makes my clients feel at ease. I approach each event with an open mind, a gracious attitude and a smile.
I have the ability to effectively communicate with my clients to produce their unique vision of their event. Working seamlessly behind the scenes to help clients achieve optimal results is what gives the events I produce that WOW factor, each and every time.
I share my home with my fantastic hubby and two beautiful, unique and adventurous daughters. We live, work and play in the Los Angeles area.
